When fifteen-year-old John Trenchard discovers a secret passage into the vault of the powerful Mohune family, his peaceful life in the Dorset village of Moonfleet is at an end. It is said that Captain Mohune, the notorious Blackbeard, haunts the place with wild and bloodcurdling cries, forever seeking his hidden treasure. As John sets off in a search of that treasure, a fabled diamond, he becomes caught up in the dangerous coastal smuggling runs and is forced to flee the country in the company of Elzevir Block, the man who is to become like a father to him. From echoing vaults and stormy seas to dank dungeons and deep wells, the suspense of John’s search for hidden treasure is thrillingly evoked in this fully dramatised classic adventure, starring Robert Glenister and James Laurenson.©2008 BBC Audiobooks Ltd; (P)2008 BBC Audiobooks Ltd Action & Adventure Classics Genre Fiction Kurgu Literary Fiction Literature & Fiction Music & Performing Arts Adaptasyon

It was a lovely story. A bit sad at the end . Worth listening to or reading.

Lovely West Country voices

I love this adaption of Moonfleet. Love the accents and the story and players really take you to back to 1757 Dorset. It also takes me back to my childhood, watching the childrens television adaption.
I've listened to this story many times and it's credit to everyone that contributed to the radio version that you can keep coming back.

It's one of those stories you listen to and want the end to be different every time, but it plays out the way it has to, to drive the message home. That some things are more important than... Well, I won't spoil it, but thoroughly recommend this title.

Takes me to far away places...Dorset, but love it!

I am thrilled to hear the proper Dorset accents here! It really makes this book as I ha e come across so many ready with ordinary English accents and it does not suit this deeply Dorset tale remotely. I searched for a reading specifically with Dorset accent and am really happy with this!!

Deeply Dorset
