War is coming. And if I don't break free, my biker family will pay the price.

The Jackals are keeping me hostage. They think I'm a traitor and saboteur. Bait they can use to lure my brother and his club. Payback for stealing their drugs.

But the Wolves aren't coming to my rescue. I'm my brothers pawn to justify a turf war between the clubs.

Wounded and locked in a cell, I can't use the mate bond as leverage to weasel my way out of captivity. My enemies have severed our connection and rejected me as their mate.

My father's murderer remains at large. I have to get out of the Jackal's clubhouse, find them and avenge him. No rugged, dangerous bikers tugging at my heart will stop me.

So help me goddess.

There were things I really liked about this book, and then there were things I didn’t care for and severely impacted my enjoyment of this book. One of the things I really liked was the overall pacing and flow of the story. There was steady movement on the main issues as well as some getting to know you moments between the main characters. It wasn’t anything huge and I feel they all still have a long way to go for any real connection to be believable, but there’s promise. And I can say I was never bored while listening. One of the things I would have liked to have seen more of was groveling from the men in regard to their treatment of Aaliyah. It seemed like they could not at all see her point of view or why she was hesitant to disclose certain things from the beginning. I’m not saying they had no right to be upset. I just felt their treatment was harsh and they didn’t grovel enough to make amends. Then again, I personally felt like Aaliyah gave in to the mate bond or hormones or whatever she wanted to blame it on too easily at times so it kind of felt to me like why would they work any harder to make it up to her when she gave in so quickly? The narration was good once again and while I still which it had been duet or multicast with every main character having their own narrator, I did enjoy the performance of the two we had. Once all was said and done at the end of this book, I feel like I would check out more books in this series if they came to audio but it’s unfortunately not something I feel anxious or desperate to have more of.

Brilliant dual narration of Matthew Winchester and Stella Rose, both bring the characters, angst, heat , drama to your ears.

We find Aaliyah is recovering from a shot fun wound, and the secrets she is still keeping from the Jackals. Even though they are her mates they are angry with her, and no longer trust her. Having been betrayed by the person who is meant to be their mate has hurt them and they treat her badly because of their pain. Aaliyah feeling upset starts to push back against them.
Aaliyah wants to know who killed her dad, and starts to believe it was not Slade. With the Wolves are after both the Jackals and Aaliyah, it's hard trying to who has been betraying them.

Book 2 gives us more answers to the questions we had but still leaves us with some! A lot kore action and way more 🔥 time!! Ending felt a little oddly placed but I’d love to hear book 3!

This book is great. I love how conflicted these characters are with trust. It’s difficult when trust hasn’t been earned yet. A wonderful performance.
