Something follows the Conover family as they drive from L.A. to Chicago. Nine year old Michael sees a face form in the window of the family car. Fourteen year old Alison sees two creepy children at a motel. A car stays behind them on the road, never passing or falling behind. Wherever the Conovers go, wherever they look, they see a large woman and her children. Patiently, relentlessly, the woman gets closer.

She is superhumanly strong. She can enter and leave a locked room at will. Confused and scared, the Conovers can't understand what is happening. Everywhere they turn they see death coming for them. Mama teaches her children, like a lioness teaches her cubs to hunt. The Conovers realize that they are the prey.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Sorry but Mr. Kline reads as if he was distrated, had problems inhaling or worse. The pitch he uses sounds as if there were many more periods in the text than there should be.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Mama?

75 % of the book should go...

It's a good plot that seems to have been hastily put to words. The characters feel flat and many times unreal, I couldn't sympathize/identify with any of them. It would have been good if the author had explored the characters more, there would have been a great game between the bad and the good ones given the chance. The end feels like an emergency exit.

It is different from the more conventional horror stories.

I would. It is exciting from start to finish.

Which character – as performed by Don Kline – was your favourite?

Michael. He is the most level headed of the family when needed.

Not a bad little story I found it very different to most horrors and rather enjoyed it, the only thing that spoilt it was the narrator he was reading the book far to fast and at points you could not understand what he was saying very off putting but all in all a very creepy gory horror story.
