In the second book in number-one New York Times best-selling author Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series, tempers - and temperatures - are rising!

A mercenary in magic-torn Atlanta who cleans up after magic gone wrong, Kate Daniels has seen it all - and some things she couldn't even have imagined. Normally, waves of paranormal energy ebb and flow like an ocean current. But once every seven years, a paranormal flare comes and brings magic like a tidal wave. Now Kate faces problems on a much bigger scale: a divine one.

When Kate sets out to retrieve a set of stolen maps for the Pack, Atlanta's paramilitary organization of shapeshifters, she quickly realizes the stakes. During a flare, gods and goddesses can manifest and battle for power. The stolen maps are only the first contest in an epic tug-of-war between two gods hoping for rebirth. And if Kate can't stop their cataclysmic showdown, the city may not survive.

As usual, Ilona Andrew's does NOT disappoint. Looking forward to the others in the series.

FANTASTIC STORY

Another great story following her life, we learn more about her and what she is hiding from, also she takes use through folk law and legends as she tried to work out friend or foe. Great action and battles scenes along with tender and reflection. Read brilliantly again by Renee Raudman.

Whilst the first book in this series was good - this one is excellent, probably because the scene setting was all done in book 1 this one just kicks off and you are hooked from page 1
Renee Raudmans narration is perfect and I would give it 6 stars if possible

My only moan is the rest of the series is all recorded - for example I can buy book 3 on Audio CD from Amazon UK for £25.00! but its not on Audible - in fact none of the rest of this series is on Audible UK (though all but books 3 and 4 are on the US site) so having to resort to Kindle for the rest which is fine when I have time to sit and read but not so good when I want to listen whilst doing other things.
Also the Narrator is one of those rare ones whose performance is actually better than just reading the book so its a bit annoying.

I wouldn't let it put you off the series though as long as you dont mind reading rather than listening

Great Book Brilliantly Read

A nice book, not my favourite but still great. Well worth many rereads. It feels like it still sets up the world of Kate.

Awesome

This is the second book in the series and I enjoyed the first book but this story really all came together with characters and action and heart.

The voice actress was absolutely amazing she went full out and blew me away I'm so glad I carried on with the series.
