Maggie Walker has never called Wirra Station home. Orphaned as a child, she spent more time at boarding school and then working in the city than she ever spent on the edge of the outback. But when her great aunt dies, Maggie inherits everything and reluctantly returns to tidy the place up before selling.

Ambitious cowboy-next-door Max O’Connor has the means and the desire to buy Wirra Station outright and return it to its former glory. But first, he wants elusive Maggie Walker to know what she’s giving up. He challenges her to live at Wirra Station for three months - with him as farm manager. Just one season - and if she still doesn’t love the place, he’ll gladly pay up and she can be cashed-up and careless, with no ties to anything or anyone.

Three months. Two hearts. One summer. Roll on.

This was such an easy book to listen to, Kelly Hunter's characterisation gave great visualisation, coupled with the sweet voice of Amy Soakes Australian lilt I was there, with the smell of the outback, the dust and the heat.
Kelly packed quite a lot into this book, so whilst easy to listen to it certainly had its twists and turns and surprises.
I don't know what book 2 brings and I'm sure it would be a whole new set of characters but I was left with wanting to carry on with Maggie's story, not because I felt the story was left wanting, but I was left wanting more (always a good sign!)

Squeaky clean, low angst, super slow burn, small town, rancher, hea romance. I enjoyed the Narrator.

Maggie returns home after her great aunt has passed to decide what to do with the families property. She has to decide is she wants to stay in a community that she never feels as if they accepted her and embrace her friend and feelings for the man who has been there for her. Nice quick romance full of emotions and drama. Good Narration.

I enjoyed reading Max and Maggie's story. Their chemistry was clear from the start. I liked the plot and enjoyed listening it all unfold. I look forward to reading or listening to more books in this series I would recommend to others. The narrator was easy to listen to and brought life to the characters.
