Two girls go missing. Only one will return.

The couple that offers the highest amount will see their daughter again. The losing couple will not. Make no mistake. One child will die....

When nine-year-old best friends Charlie and Amy disappear, two families are plunged into a living nightmare. A text message confirms the unthinkable; that the girls are the victims of a terrifying kidnapping.

And when a second text message pits the two families against each other for the life of their children, the clock starts ticking for D.I. Kim Stone and the squad.

Seemingly outwitted at every turn, as they uncover a trail of bodies, Stone realizes that these ruthless killers might be the most deadly she has ever faced, and that their chances of bringing the girls home alive are getting smaller by the hour....

Untangling a dark web of secrets from the families' past might hold the key to solving this case. But can Kim stay alive long enough to do so? Or, will someone's child pay the ultimate price?

The latest utterly addictive thriller from the number-one best seller Angela Marsons.

I have now listened to all 3 books of this series, all narrated by Jan Cramer. After the first book I was critical of the narration but I'm really glad I persevered. As ever, the story was fast paced and gripping, but the narration this time was superb. If you are hesitating over this audiobook due to doubts about the narrator, then go for it - you won't be disappointed.

Narration much better - story outstanding

A truly gripping tale, fast paced, gruesome in parts, full of twists and turns. It depicts humanity at its worst and at its best. The characters were gritty shaped by childhood experiences. It's about the power of love, how important it is and the devastation to the human soul when there is none present. Highly recommended.

Gripping!

Felt there should be a difference narrator. The story line was excellent and kept you held till the very end. Very much enjoyed it and found myself listening not wanting to miss a moment.

Excellent story would make a good tv drama series.

Someone else mentioned that they didn't rate the narrator in the first book, but thought she was brilliant in this one - I could not agree more, she was excellent.

The story line was the best one yet. In fact I would go as far as to say this is the best detective book I have read to date (and I have read a lot! Highly recommend, I do think it is best to read the books in order, although you can read them all individually.

This book had me on the edge of my seat, and would make a brilliant TV series.

Absolutely brilliant

Another amazing book in the very addictive series. shame about the very boring wooden narrator. just not suited to this type of story.

Another great story... but poor narrator.
