LEGENDARY AGENT JAMES BOND CONFRONTS AN ENEMY UNLIKE ANY HE’S FACED BEFORE

James Bond is not an easily intimidated man, but it’s hard not to feel unnerved in the presence of Mr. Big. A ruthless Harlem gangster who uses superstition and fear to control his vast criminal empire, he’s also one of SMERSH’s top American operatives.

Mr. Big has been smuggling British pirate treasure to New York from a remote Jamaican island and funneling the proceeds to Moscow. With help from Solitaire, Mr. Big’s beautiful and enigmatic Creole fortune teller, and his old friend Felix Leiter of the CIA, 007 must locate the crime lord’s hideout, sabotage his operation, and reclaim the pirate hoard for England.

Terrible narration spoilt this book for me. I just couldn’t understand the dialogue for some of characters. A good yarn otherwise

Story was quite good

The American accents are awful and really took me out of the great story. Better performances of this title exist

Great story, bad narration

Casino Royale had me hooked. Richard Armitage was brilliant. This narration was fine for the most part, though she made Bond sound like school teacher rather than a suave agent. The American accents were unforgivable, they were sreetching and pretty much all sounded like the mum from Tom & Jerry cartoons, that’s the same for males and females, Felix lighter was awful. The Haitians as well, all the same whether male or female. Ruined the book for me.

Decent Story Terrible Narration

The narration here is terrible and actually makes you want to turn it off, I really don't know what the direction was here, the accents were completely over the top, I visibly winced a few times. The pace is too fast and often had to rewind as I didn't know what she was saying. It's a pity, I think the story was excellent but the immersion is ruined with the god awful accents, needs to be slowed way down and much clearer dialogue, buy another version if you can!

Excellent book...terrible narration!
