This book is the deeply moving story of a man searching for his lost child in post war France. It depicts his terrible and heartbreaking moral dilemma. Loosely based on a true story but in fact a description of the actual reality of many children lost and orphaned by war. Brilliantly written and narrated.
It is also very informative of the sense of hatred of all those who had collaborated with the Germans during the occupation and the inability to trust anyone who might have done so.
