Laurence Freeman teaches Christians from all traditions the simplest way of prayer - meditation. It is simple in that it requires no words yet, encountering God without the safety barrier of our own thoughts and ideas is to open ourselves to total transformation.

This collection of talks on Christian meditation is full of practical advice and great spiritual insights in equal measure. It shows how discovering the presence of Christ within through meditative prayer can give shape and purpose to everything we do and are: our actions, emotions, fears, longings, failings and dreams. As John Main taught, the point of this kind of prayer is to allow God's presence to become not just a reality, but the reality of our lives.

For those who have a head belief in meditation yet experience a block to practising it, Light Within offers encouragement to begin. For those on the way, it offers a deeper understanding of the journey and encouragement to persevere. The audiobook includes a new Preface.

was into Christian Meditation as explained by John Main and Laurence Freeman several years ago moved on to other approaches without falling out of love with it. Recently I noticed my Spirit's orientation toward practise! practise! and less theory. John Main and Christian Meditation is a form and approach is being revived in me- Laurence Freeman is a pure gem and beautifully presents Christian Meditation as it truly is. I have since signed as a member of WCCM. wish John Main's Silence and Stillness in Every Season can be recorded as well. Highly recommend Laurence's book

Laurence is a trustworthy guide on the Christian inner journey who speaks from a depth of experience and as one immersed in the New Testament. I can think of no better guide on the path to simplicity and union in the Spirit of Christ.
