Why would a man escape from prison the day before he's due to be released?

Audie Palmer has spent a decade in prison for an armed robbery in which four people died, including two of the gang. Seven million dollars has never been recovered and everybody believes that Audie knows where the money is. For 10 years he has been beaten, stabbed, throttled, and threatened almost daily by prison guards, inmates, and criminal gangs, who all want to answer this same question, but suddenly Audie vanishes, the day before he's due to be released. What did you like best about Life or Death? What did you like least?

The main character was well developed. I didn't like the constant return to the love interest - it got boring.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The story was too complex and it seemed deliberately twisted, the bad guys were too obviously bad and the love story was overplayed. More development of the other characters might have helped

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator was good

Disappointing

I have read all of Robothams O'Loughlin series which I have enjoyed. This novel set in the USA clearly demonstrates what a truly brilliant author he is. wonderful narration, compelling plot believable characters. I heartily recommend this book.

My book of the year so far.

When I started this book, I thought this isn’t my sort of story. How wrong could I be, the story built and twisted and drew me in and then I was listening at every opportunity. The characters were believable and I felt connected to their story. I highly recommend this book.

Brilliant story form beginning to end. You have to find out what really happened to the main character and when you do....

What did you like best about this story?

The story gripped me all the way through, I didnt lose interest once.

What about John Chancer’s performance did you like?

I really liked how he got in to each character, he did a really good job of swapping between them all.

I laughed and cried.

Really good book, really good narrator, very impressed and would like to experience this author AND the narrator again :)
