En alakalı
I am not a fan of American crime tv or novels, on the whole; they are often too slick, but Dave Gurney is an exception. He has a touch of moroseness, a touch of cool logical detachment, a touch of vulnerability and a grudging acceptance that life is sent to try us. I really feel for him when he is struggling to understand why he let himself get roped into a situation, or why he feels he needs to pursue a puzzle.
I was hooked into solving the mysteries with Dave Gurney right from the start, and felt as if I had moved into his house along with his son and Kim. This feeling of involvement is due in no small part to the narrator who really brings Mr Gurney, and the other characters not just to life, but to people you feel you know.
Can’t wait to listen to the next adventure.

I have a soft spot for Dave Gurney

Great story and I love how the characters come to life with the superb narration

Jeff Harding makes the book pop!

Unfortunately this didn't have the pace or tension of the previous 2 books. Perhaps I should have given more time between books 2 and 3.

Disappointing after books 1 and 2

Firstly, Jeff Harding's voice performance in this Verdon police thriller is as immaculate as ever. He imbues every character with its own distinct persona with each distinct voice. The story itself is another excellent modern noir detective novel with a wonderful story that bounds forward at great pace, with a surprising and thrilling ending. The novel contains the usual descriptively great one-liners that bring, at the very least, a broad smile to your face and often a hearty laugh. This novel is particularly welcome in the creation of "Ram TV" which is so irreverently and precisely based upon the foul Fox TV template. The murderous monster of Let The Devil Sleep is presented as no more vile and evil than its media reflection in Ram TV. Verdon is a modern master of the hard-nosed, pulse-pounding cop thriller genre with quite beautiful prose.

Master of suspence.
