Peyton Davis is part rancher, part federal prosecutor, and all Texan. Strong and steady, she's known for keeping her cool in every situation, but when she meets the beautiful and accomplished heiress to the Gantry oil fortune, she falls fast and hard. When she learns her new assignment is to investigate the Gantry family's business, her entire belief system will be tested.

Lily Gantry leads a privileged and protected life and she has no idea it's all about to blow up in her face. What she does know is that the striking rancher she met at the Cattle Baron's Ball has the potential to steal her heart. Will she feel the same way when she finds out Peyton Davis's investigation threatens not only her family's fortune, but the very foundation of her identity?

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

no, all the sub plots in the story are just ignored

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

it starts well but as the story goes on all other characters are all forgotten about which ruins
the overall story

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

book was ok but too many loose ends

Could you see Lay Down the Law being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

no cant see a movie in this but maybe a mini series

Any additional comments?

this book ends too soon ,so many sub plots are left hanging did the writer get bored i found it very frustrating. maybe a book 2 is in order

I liked the story but there were times I just wanted to put my head on the table just like Peyton. I did enjoy it and I've listened to a lot worse.

Head banging !

I enjoyed the development of this crime/romance. It clearly is not a stand alone book and I will need to listen to the others to get a complete story but I will as the story is well crafted and the narrator good.

Engrossing
