Lady Maggie Windham has secrets, and she's been perfectly capable of keeping them...until now. When she's threatened with exposure, she turns to investigator Benjamin Hazlit to keep catastrophe at bay. But Maggie herself intrigues Benjamin more than the riddle she's set him to solve. As he uncovers more and more of her past, Maggie struggles to keep him at a distance, until they both begin to discover the truth in their hearts.

I am a faithful fan of GB, and this book was just as lovely as expected. However, when I read her books, in my head the heroines scund witty, wise and sensibile. In the voice of this narrator they sound week and stupid to.me. Such a pity!

Not happy-end with the narrator

Perhaps the male narrator's poor female voices put me off but I just couldn't swallow the plot. Illegimate ducal children legitimised by adoption????

Nonsensical

The Heroine expects no help from her "loving and supportive family".
So blunders on with her misguided plan. In fact she behaves as all the other women in the series. Lots of crying and lots of "I want you, I don't want you." BORING DRIVEL"
The hero having been employed by the Duke's family, has some insight to their dysfunctional family. Like all the men in the series, he hangs on in there, providing lots of sex.
There was a underlining story, not just SEX, like the last book.

What it is to be a Duke's daughter!!!!
