An unusual heroine, Fiona Hawthorn grew up running free. Without a mother to restrain her, she spent her days riding her horse neck or nothing across her father's fields, or swimming like a sea nymph in the upper meadow lake. Trouble is, inside a prim and proper Regency sitting room Fiona is bound to overturn the teapot or accidentally trip the footman. Her notorious Aunt Honore decides to take the hoyden in hand, but amidst the strictures of the Beau Monde, Fiona is a fish out of water.

When she was younger, Lord Wesmont was her hero. Sadly, he came home from fighting Napoleon a hardened man. Nothing can breathe life back into his cold heart, nothing except, perhaps, the love of an unusual young woman who regularly turns his life upside down.

A few eccentric characters, dastardly deeds and a macho hero are the ingredients that delight. Good narration.

Charming story

A nice not too obvious story. Like how accident prone the mfc was and how the mmc broodingly couldn’t stay away. Also really like the unconventionality of the mfcs benefactor. She was an intrigue monger out of this world. Although sometimes you just wanted to slap her silly.
Narration ok but even though it might be more conducive to the era of the book I felt it was a bit too haughty at times for my liking.

Really liked it

It was a fun and lighthearted romantic comedy beautifully performed by Ms Beverley A Crick. Off to listen to the next instalment in the series.

A delightful love story

A series of mishaps one after the other, had me thinking it was a comedy. The hellion aunt was riotous, as was her band of merry servants, the stepson with his madcap get rich schemes and the side story of Maria and the doctor 😉

The urge to slap the Earl with a wet cloth held until the final chapters, he was a bit exasperating at the best of times.

A good read, moving with the viscosity of honey, but the Earl gets his lady in the end.

Slow and steady

Lovely listen that will make you giggle and laugh out loud. Really enjoyable and easy to unwind with. Good narrator as well.
