It's been 10 months since Jack died, and Sandra, a tightly wound academic, copes with her grief by immersing herself in the history of textiles. When she and Martha, a gifted knitter, meet over an unconscious body on the footpath, the unlikely threads of their lives tangle into each other. Sandra invites Martha to join her in a professional collaboration, but what begins as a working relationship becomes something deeply personal. Martha seems at ease with herself, in spite of her own experience of grief. But what does she carry around in those three large bags?©2005 Anne Bartlett Genre Fiction Kadın Kurgu Kurgu Literary Fiction

Thoroughly enjoyed this story brought very much to life by Beverley Dunn. An excellent voice. Any yarn crafter will love this, I'm an avid crocheter and I felt the author totally understood the textile world.
My favourite bit was when Martha takes the doctor by the arm and has a little word, classic !! Hope it becomes a film one day. Thanks x x

A wonderful story by Anne Bartlett.

I like everything about this book, the narrations, the story and the pace.
It's a tale of people from different walks of life who come together in an unexpected way by crafts.

the narrator's voice wasn't my favourite either. slightly grating! I think would work better as a TV show with the visuals to help bring it to life maybe?

sorry I just found this really slow and boring!

Where to begin? I just cannot wrap my head around this project, it’s a mess. It’s a lot of rambling, and precious little actual knowledge of knitting even if the title and some reviews let you believe that. Hugely dissapointing from a knitters view. And very confusing narrator, who insists on making the characters sound like they are in their 80’s, it just doesn’t fit?!? If you are looking for a good read for knitting nerds - this is not it. And please, do not listen with headphones, because there is a LOT of shrill shrieking!

Such a dissapointment!
