The seventh book in a series of procedural crime thrillers by #1 New York Times bestselling writer Jack Gatland, Killing The Music is perfect for fans of L.J Ross, Ian Rankin and Alex Smith.
When Dave Mansford, founding member of 80's band Alternator is electrocuted live on stage during a comeback concert, DI Declan Walsh and the team of the Last Chance Saloon are brought in to investigate whether it was a simple accident, or vicious murder. However, as they investigate further they find the surviving members of Alternator in the middle of a multi-million-dollar rights sale, a band whose lead singer disappeared in 1998 and has never been declared dead, and whose biggest success, the 1987 album Secrets and Lies seems to be cursed. With the bodycount climbing and with everyone keeping to their own version of events, can Declan discover what truly happened in a London recording studio over thirty years ago, and why everyone who was there that night has to die?©2021 Jack Gatland (P)2022 W. Words cannot express just how much I enjoyed this book, I think that of pretty much every book in this series but they do keep getting better and better, there is NO stopping Mr Gatland it seems, thank goodness for that I say.

Superlative

An interesting story about the results of headonism and ego; of misguided loyalties and vengeance. Also a frightening sub plots that like the books together. Ending on a teaser or two for the next installment.

A convoluted plot about guilt and greed.

The usual strong characters and good plotting - but not quite the appeal of some of the others in series.

Complex procedural

Better than the last book. I could not write a book so I appreciate the effort authors make. I did guess a lot of the plot before the police did. I’m not happy about old adversaries being re hashed. Surely the security services are not this lapse making them sound so incompetent. I will read next book.

Good listen

Really enjoyed the start of this series but the plots are very repointed nature of not in detail
