Özet
What happens when a 37-year-old office worker, who exercises marginally less than the average cheese sandwich, decides to walk 630 miles of challenging coastline in one go? Will he go on an epic voyage of self-discovery. . . or just get really knackered? Find out the answers to these important questions, and many more, by joining him on a grand adventure that takes in 26,719 steps, 921 stiles, 302 bridges, 91,000 feet of climbing and descending, 1 seal, 0 basking sharks, lots of chips and 1 overweight, oversized backpack.©2017 Stephen Reynolds (P)2018 W. I’d love to give this book five stars but I can’t. It is essentially a very funny book but some of the egocentric wit and corny humour is a bit wearing at times. The irony is I have actually stayed in one of the hotels described in this text though i’ve never noticed that the floors sloped or that the corridors were of different widths so it that was a ddesign thing for people with visual impaired issues well I guess you might say it failed. Anyway the naration is good and there are some very funny passages. It’s really a whistle stop guide book and tour of the south-west coastal path. There’s not all that much description of landmarks though some nice observations concerning the scenery and views. it doesn’t get bogged down in details of journeys taken with friends along the way which for me is good. Some might find it a bit too much of a whistle stop tour but I thought it was about right and i really liked the touch of poignancy at the end.

After walking the length of The Kennet and Avon Canal over 7 days to celebrate my 40th birthday, I have been missing the adventure and what I could do next.
Researching the South West Coastal Path, I came across this book.
With feelings and apprehensions that I too had and felt, about walking alone and finding one self, this book gives an honest and personal account of what will lie ahead for me.
I have now purchased Stephen Reynolds next book, and cannot wait to hear more of ones walking, or should I say, self discovery.

An absolute pleasure of a book

A pleasant light hearted travel adventure of a "normal" guy.
Fun to see how someone new to hiking gets on, and the beautiful South West showcased as they meet various people and enjoy nature.

My husband and I listened to this on the way to and from a holiday. We both giggled and laughed. We loved his sarcasm, his humour, his honesty. We would recommend this book.

So entertaining
