This isn’t my usual choice on Audible, but I came to it because of the narrator’s work on Charlaine Harris’s amazing Midnight Texas series. And what a nice change of pace for me. The author takes her time to tell a charming story of second-chance love, staunch female friendships, empty nest motherhood, and the challenges of irascible elder parents. I’m not religious so wouldn’t usually choose a Christian book, and American South church-going people are very different to English C of E types, but I didn’t mind the bible and Help Me Lord aspects. I wouldn’t want them for myself but it was nice to read about someone else’s faith. The entire story was wholesome and engaging. If you’re a little battered and bruised by modern life and the pace of the contemporary world then this one might be worth your time.

A lovely change of pace for me, and a charming feel-good story — recommended!
