Opposites attract trouble in this thrilling romantic suspense performed by Amber Riley (Glee, Savvy Sheldon Feels Good as Hell) and a full cast!

Museum curator Amara Grant has big plans. Open a museum in Haiti plans. Return local artifacts to their country of origin plans. Getting fired from the prestigious museum she works at? Not part of the plan. But that’s exactly what happens when she discovers that a priceless set of bracelets on display are actually fake.

With her world turned upside down, the last thing she expects is to be approached by a wealthy benefactor offering the resources to track down the real bracelets. They’ll supply money to travel the world and manpower in the form of a mysterious bodyguard known only as Dante—a man who is as intriguing as he is infuriating.

Soon Amara and Dante are caught up in a web of black-market antiquities and secret societies as their treasure hunt takes them from Los Angeles to London, to the Scottish Highlands and Paris. As if their adventure isn’t daring enough, a powerful attraction ignites between them…and falling in love just might pose the greatest risk of all.

Editorial Review

A multi-country romantically thrilling ride
It Happened One Heist was the kind of adventure I couldn’t get enough of. Museum curator Amara Grant has big plans to return artifacts to Haiti, so when she discovers the priceless bracelets on display are fake and gets fired for it, her entire life changes overnight. What follows is a globe-trotting treasure hunt packed with riddles, secret societies, and black-market antiquities, with stops in Los Angeles, London, Scotland, and Paris. The chemistry between Amara and her bodyguard, Dante, is immediate, and their close-proximity adventure only intensifies their connection. Aside from the romance, I adored the theme of reclaiming what belongs back home. Performed by a full cast led by Amber Riley and Anthony Rey Perez, this book occupied my thoughts every moment, and left me ready for more adventures with Amara and Dante. —Patty R., Audible Editor

Riley is a good narrator and her voice is easy to listen to. The storyline is fun with interesting themes on colonisation and the ownership of ethnic treasures. It was an enjoyable listen while doing the cooking and cleaning on a Sunday. I would probably give this 3.5 stars but it was closer to 4 than 3.

A fun and adventurous listen
