When fragile 16-year-old Hope Walton loses her mom to an earthquake overseas, her secluded world crumbles. Agreeing to spend the summer in Scotland, Hope discovers that her mother was more than a brilliant academic but also a member of a secret society of time travelers. And she's alive, though currently trapped in the 12th century, during the age of Eleanor of Aquitaine. Hope has 77 hours to rescue her mother and get back to their own time.

Passing through the Dim, Hope enters a brutal medieval world of political intrigue, danger, and violence. A place where any serious interference could alter the very course of history. And when she meets a boy whose face is impossibly familiar, she must decide between her mission and her heart - both of which could leave Hope trapped in the past forever.

Addictive, romantic, and rich with historical detail, Into the Dim is an Outlander for teens.

Eleştirmen yorumları

"Instantly engaging, constantly suspenseful, ultimately poignant and satisfying. Loved it!" (Diana Gabaldon, author of the number-one New York Times best-selling Outlander series)
"[Narrator Amanda] Ronconi's charged energy moves the plot along as she delivers Hope's characteristic quips with an undertone that combines insecurity and confidence in her photographic memory. Ronconi's use of accents is effective in distinguishing Hope's family members, with their Scots brogues; her heart's companion, with his flatter English inflection; and Hope herself, with her American speech and enthusiasm." I enjoyed this story. The historical context was (for me) convincing, the pace was good and dramatic tension was gripping. The main characters were not paper-flat stereotypes, but carefully crafted - and you could really feel for them. The narrator did an excellent job given the range of accents she had to produce - a great vocal range! I have just bought book 2 (Sparks of Light)!

Good world building
