I started off approaching the book through interest but became increasingly engaged on a personal level. I found the unfolding story of Beryl’s psychological journey unpicking her relationship with her mother and how it impacted her life to be very moving. I also learnt a lot about psychosynthesis theory. There are passages of spiritual reflection and references which may be distracting to some readers, but are essential to Beryl’s situation, so my advice would be to persevere. This is a well written, refreshingly candid book that will stay with me always. Superbly narrated by Beryl’s niece, my dear friend, Sharon.
