"Some of the wildest and most sustained battles in an action thriller in a long time...non-stop action, lots of explosions--and a little bit of conspiracy." ( Chicago Tribune)

First off I've got to admit the writing isn't polished and could have done with a tad more editing or advice. On audio book you really notice the repetitive words said over and over again sentence after sentence. For example 'OK said Mr John. Mr John decided to. Right said Mr john' my interpretation not the book but you get the idea.
However its such a fun adventure there's a lot of great action scenes, marine tactics, fun storyline. Think the boys own adventure book for adults. The main character is a James bond but more army less spy. He does everything, goes everywhere.
I wasn't sure at the beginning but I grew to love it. Don't expect too much and enjoy the ride.
Also French bad guys... Who knew?

Fun adventure

I love that people are saying this is well researched I have never come across such "suddenly" delightful tosh in my life. Don't get me wrong it's great, but for all the wrong reasons.
Incorrect weapons nomenclature machine guns becoming assault rifles, when in fact they are neither. Nitrogen grenades......oh how we laughed, such jolly japes.
Oh and the wild life, never mind the mutant creatures with a breading population of half a dozen. How about the only recorded man killing Orcas. In fact I'll raise that with the only recorded case of a whale exhaling through its mouth.
Mr Reilly lives in a world where specific heat capacity does not matter. It would seem a cup of liquid nitrogen is sufficient to freeze a small swimming pools worth of water. Considering how interested he was in the movement of buoyant ice bodies in water a chapter earlier its very interesting that this huge block of ice suddenly appearing under water appears then, to stay exactly where it is.
Oh yes that brings me to the peculiarly patchy dispersion of gases in an enclosed environment. you just wouldn't get little gouts of flame appearing as a handy indicator. Not that that should be a problem as chlorofluorocarbons aren't flammable. I could go on but I'm too excited by the prospect of Area7.
Bloody marvelous. I'm not sure whose the biggest idiot Reilly for writing it, his editor for not questioning any of it or me for loving this drivel.

Such delightful tosh.

Another great book by Matthew Reilly, I first read it many years ago and am now working my way back through his book with Audible. Once again, the book was narrated excellently by Sean Mangan

I have been a fan of these books for years, but this is the first I have enjoyed them through Audible and it was just as exciting as reading it to myself. I love the story, it's fast-paced adrenalin rush keeps me hooked on every page. And the narrator for the audio book managed to capture that energy. Loved it

Exciting
