The showdown for the galaxy has begun

Corthaur's proxies wage a brutal campaign across a string of star systems, leaving colonies and stations burning in their wake...oblivious that they're advancing nothing except the Enemy's cause.

Meanwhile, in the darkness, Corthaur quietly gathers his enslaved legions for a final assault that promises to end freedom forever.

In the middle of it all, the Interchange fights to weather the riptide of interstellar events.

More depends on their success than they know. It is now becoming clear that humanity has a far bigger role to play in the galaxy's fate than anyone realized...and the Interchange carries with her the species' future.

I loved the entire series from start to finish, it constantly left me with feelings of existential dread, had me questioning meanings of life and rooting for non-existent aliens. I often had to pause the books to contemplate what had just happened and consider the ramifications of it, I love it when I get so invested into a series like this.

It ended with a very bittersweet ending, thankfully no Deus ex machinas, and I was left feeling satisfied, sad and relieved. I think the final few paragraphs were the perfect tone to end this series.

My one small gripe with the series would be we never find out the motive of the antagonist, we never hear dialogue from him (it?), or exposition. This does have it's merit, too, but I do feel there was an opportunity for dialogue towards the end of the book.

Overall though, definite recommend!

I really enjoyed this. The series is a great, well thought out and enterating space based story with some compelling themes and characters that drive the narrative forward.
Marks narration is great and brings the setting to life with his usual aplomb.

This is collecting books 7 & 8 of the series and a really fun finale to the story. The narration is great, Mark as always does a brilliant job bring the characters to life!
I'm a little sad the series is finished as it's been a fun ride, but I am also excited to see what the author does next!

A Underrated series
