Özet

#1 New York Times Bestseller and Oprah Book Club selection

""Thoughtful . . . heart-wrenching . . . . An exercise in soul-baring storytelling—with the soul belonging to 20th-century America itself. It's hard to read and to stop reading, and impossible to forget."" — USA Today

Dominick Birdsey, a forty-year-old housepainter living in Three Rivers, Connecticut, finds his subdued life greatly disturbed when his identical twin brother Thomas, a paranoid schizophrenic, commits a shocking act of self-mutilation. Dominick is forced to care for his brother as well as confront dark secrets and pain he has buried deep within himself—a journey of the soul that takes him beyond his blue-collar New England town to Sicily’s Mount Etna, the birthplace of his grandfather and namesake. Coming to terms with his life and lineage, Dominick struggles to find forgiveness and finally rebuild himself beyond the haunted shadow of his troubled twin.

I Know This Much Is True is a masterfully told story of alienation and connection, power and abuse, devastation and renewal—an unforgettable masterpiece.

Firstly, the sound quality is very poor and changes throughout. In the last chapter you can hear mumbling in the background behind the narrator.
Secondly, without the length of the unabridged work you lose the depth of the characters and their journey. This means that events happen too quickly and you are not as invested.

Abridged and attenuated.

for a 900 page book I should've been suspicious that this was only 5 hours.

Do not buy this version. There's loads missing

keeps cutting out sections

Really looked forward to listening to this, I’ve heard great things about the book.
Very disappointed in the quality of the production. Some chapters end mid sentence and there are huge gaps in the storyline
If I could work out how to get a refund I would and spend it on the hard copy.
I’ll make sure to read reviews before I purchase in future.
Take my advice and give this one a miss

Pretty sure they shouldn’t be able to sell this, can’t listen to it properly. People talking in the background… just an awful shame to do this to a book!!!

Horrible sound!

Sound quality very poor and story seemed to jump/ stop mid sentence in several places. Picked after enjoying River was Waiting so much, overall disappointing.
