Deputy Mattie Cobb is in a dark place and has withdrawn from Cole Walker and his family to work on issues from her past. When she and her K-9 partner, Robo, get called to track a missing junior high student, they find the girl dead on Smoker's Hill behind the high school, and Mattie must head to the Walker home to break the bad news. But that's only the start of trouble in Timber Creek because soon another girl goes missing - and this time it's one of Cole's daughters.

Knowing that each hour a child remains missing lessens the probability of finding her alive, Mattie and Robo lead the hunt while Cole and community volunteers join in to search everywhere, but to no avail. It seems that someone has snatched all trace of the Walker girl from their midst, including her scent. Grasping at straws, Mattie and Robo follow a phoned-in tip into the dense forest, where they hope to find a trace of the girl's scent and to rescue her alive. But when Robo does catch her scent, it leads them to information that challenges everything they thought they knew about the case.

Mattie and Robo must rush to hunt down the kidnapper before they're too late in Hunting Hour, the third installment in critically acclaimed author Margaret Mizushima's exhilarating mystery series.

So good to read a book that keeps you guessing to the end. Love that the relationships are not obvious and cliche

Great book

It's exciting and keeps one listening way into the nights some terrifying moments till the conclusion and somehow sad that the murderer is mentally living in the past, bu thats my view.

A touching story of murder by accident

What I love about this author is the way she keeps you on your toes and throws out so many twists you can’t wait for the end to find you were wrong and it was somebody else entirely. Can’t wait for the next book

Edge of your seat again

I am currently binging the series so the character and the relationships are very familiar - I think I would struggle going in not at the beginning so I would read/listen to them in order. All three dogs are great.

This went in a very different direction and opened up some social commentary. Really cant say anything more due to spoilers.

Very used to the narration style now.

Great addition to the series

I am loving this book series, I love Robo the dog. Great characters who are brought to life by the superb performance of Nancy Wu. This story is really good, it's heart wrenching and quite sad, but very enthralling. I'm not going to lie I had a feeling I knew who the suspect was about halfway through, when it was confirmed I was had enjoyed the ride and was impressed with myself. To be fair it was a combination of listening to over 250 murder mystery books and guessing. I liked the ending and am excited to hear the next book. I binged this in two days.

Another good solid book in the series!
