From Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Emma Slate comes the first book in the Saddles & Spurs series.

I flee to my family's mountain ranch to heal a broken heart.

I did not expect a charging bear.

But then a shirtless, tattooed cowboy saves me.

Declan Brewer is my father's new ranch hand.

He's a retired rodeo star who's got swagger in spades.

And he's completely forbidden.

Declan is new to Huckleberry Hill, but the small town welcomes him as one of their own.

Then one night after bourbon and banter, we cross the line.

Now we're sneaking around, in hopes my father doesn't find out.

Declan makes me feel safe, even when I'm on the back of his motorcycle.

He's everything I've ever wanted.

But I'm scared he'll abandon me when he finds out I can't have children.

Just like my ex.

And then the impossible happens:

I'm pregnant with a cowboy's baby.

Love it love it!!!! I saw this advertised on TikTok so had to check it out as I love unplanned pregnancy trope. This is the first in the series and so far so good. Think I found my new favourite series and can’t wait for the next books to be available on audible.

My new favourite series!!

This was my first Emma Slate book

I really enjoyed the world that was created in this book. All the characters were very sweet and relationships between everyone were endearing. Its always such a joy to see a main character grow through the story.

The writing style itself took me a little moment to get my head around. i found it quiet melodic and instructional... "He opened the door. She went through first. He closed the door. She turned around" it almost felt like bullet points at times. There were a lot of chapters of nothingness. i got to 64% of the audio book and everything had peaked and trough then peaked again! and it left me thinking "what else is left? it could end here"

The narration was good! Loved Sean Masters! The entire cast was fab.

Very sweet story. Slightly slow plot for me
