The serial murders of elders in Åre hide a blood-chilling motive in a riveting novel of suspense by the #1 internationally bestselling author of Hidden in Lies.

In Åre, a ninety-year-old home care patient is found dead in his bed. It’s assumed he passed away peacefully in his sleep. His daughter isn’t convinced. Neither is investigator Hanna Ahlander, who realizes something is amiss. Certain details aren’t adding up to death by natural causes.

When Hanna shares her concerns with her longtime colleague Daniel Lindskog, she’s immediately dismissed and met with uncharacteristic resistance. Daniel, Hanna’s closest collaborator, inexplicably goes cold, threatening what was once a solid partnership. Then, another elderly person dies under suspicious circumstances, and Hanna’s fears grow that a killer with an unfathomable motive is on the loose in the mountain village.

As professional and personal relationships are put to the test, Hanna’s investigation becomes increasingly demanding. She can’t do this alone, and time is running out. She and Daniel must find their way back to each other and bridge a sudden and troubling distance between them before more lives are lost.
