Mankind has colonized the worlds of the Spiral Arm. The galaxy is theirs for the taking. But humanity will soon discover the brutal, horrifying price of arrogance in deep space.

The Klikiss Torch is a device of unimaginable power, capable of transforming gas giants into new suns. However, unknown to humanity, the Jovian worlds are home to an undreamed-of alien
species: the hydrogues. Infinitely advanced, supremely powerful, and now the victims of accidental genocide, the hydrogues don’t seek apologies or reparations. Instead, incredible armadas of
invincible city-sized warships suddenly emerge from the galaxy’s numerous gaseous worlds with a single mission: to annihilate every last human being in the universe.

And so begins the Saga of Seven Suns—an action-packed epic of mankind’s destiny among the stars.©2002 WordFire, Inc. (P)2002 Recorded Books Adventure Hard Science Fiction Kurgu Science Fiction Space Opera Fantastik Romantik

Hidden Empire is the first book in the Saga of the Seven Suns and as far as audiobooks go it’s a hidden gem. Or Diamond, you might say.

I have both read the book and now listened to the audiobook and I just cannot recommend this series enough. If you’re looking for a new bing-worthy sci-fi epic then drop a credit and you will not be disappointed.

Hidden Empire is a fantastically set and paced opener to a new and tumultuous sci-fi fantasy future for Humanity that extends across the Spiral Arm. Presented as a space-opera (chapters are named after the character they follow), it allows for a compelling narrative that manages to be both character driven and grand in scope.

George Guidall brings an excellent range to the audiobook performance, adding nuance to dialogue and musings that bring characters to life.

Without giving any plot away, I truly cannot recommend this audiobook enough.

An enthralling opening to the Saga

After reading all of Kevin Anderson’s books in the Dune saga, I was eager to try something that came entirely from Anderson’s own vision. This book did not disappoint! Hidden Empire is an excellent beginning to a potentially awesome series. By the end of the book Anderson does what all good storytellers do, he makes the reader excited to know the rest of the story. Highly recommended!

Best Sci Fi I’ve enjoyed in a long time. Fantastic story with even better narration. Clever, imaginative, thought provoking, exciting, creative and moving. Congratulations to both author and narrator and thanks for an amazing piece of work.

Amazing Sci Fi

While I had mixed feelings at first feeling the author had introduced too many characters in the beginning I’m too quick a succession he did manage to pull it together into a solid story. You could tell though from how many dangling storylines that it was intended to be a series right from the beginning. At least he keeps you guessing as to how the first book would end right up to it happening.
