'Terrific' Ian Rankin

Some victims leave clues to their killers...

A Hidden Clue

A victim leaves a note for the SIO who will investigate her death. This not what DCI Kate Daniels expects to find concealed at a crime scene.

A Desperate Plea

The note contains a last request: 'Find Aaron'. But is Kate searching for a potential second victim, or a killer?

The Countdown is on...

Following the clues, Kate becomes the obsession of her adversary who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Will she find Aaron before he does?

Was enjoying it until near the end when Aaron escaped his school. Daniel’s would have had to leave the force for not safeguarding Aaron when she knew his school. This totally spoilt the last hour of the book & an unforgivable mistake!

Shame about the end

Mari is one of my favourite crime writers and I’ve read all of the Kate Daniels books so this time thought I’d try a book with narration! Big mistake for me, just can’t get away with the narrators voice, seems like there’s no emotion or intonation, I’m trying my best to stick with it but think I’ll be purchasing the ebook instead. Shame as I love to listen to books in the car.
The story is great as usual for Mari, she brings the characters to life and her knowledge of procedures is brilliant which I can say with some authority having done the ‘Kate Daniels’ role for many years.
My advice would be try a sample first!

Great story but….

Another Mari Hannah masterclass. This writer is the best. She hit the ground running with "Murder wall" and just gets better and better.

A more unusual murder mystery that kept me intrigued from start to finish.
I have really enjoyed every book in this series and I'm suprised there aren't more reviews. They are definitely on a par with some of the more well known crime novels. Well narrated too.

Loved it!
