Even before I met them I knew they were trouble. It was supposed to be a simple prison transfer that ended up anything but. Hunter and Ryker were two hardened criminals that shouldn’t look as good as they do.

As a police officer it was my job to follow the rules and that meant ignoring whatever feelings these men stirred in me. I read their files. Ryker likes to torture people to death. So when they kidnap me, I know my fate is sealed.

I’ll do anything to survive, but will it be enough?

This is an extended, reedited version of the book. It's stand-alone, with an HEA—Sep. 2023

Wow, what a great balance of dub con/non con. These characters are raw and rough, just how I like them!! A brilliant performance.

Hunter and Ryker are prisoners who execute a prison break and take the female office hostage. Hunter and Ryker are dangerous criminals but they are also very hot and the combination of both has Annie hot and bothered and worried that she is going to die. This book is fast paced and has a satisfying ending was very enjoyable.

Hard Times is exactly what it promises—a dark captive romance that doesn’t shy away from exploring difficult themes. C. Hallman crafts a story that is equal parts gritty and emotional, pulling you into a world of danger, power, and vulnerability. It’s not a light read, but if you enjoy romance with darker edges and morally complex characters, this delivers.

Kylie Stewart’s narration adds real weight to the story. She captures the heroine’s fear, strength, and resilience beautifully, drawing you deeper into the emotional core of the book. Her performance keeps the tension tight and makes the darker moments hit harder while still giving voice to the softer, more intimate scenes.

If you’re a fan of dark romance and captive tropes, this audiobook will keep you hooked from beginning to end.
