The first novel in the Forerunner Saga trilogy by science fiction legend Greg Bear—set in the Halo universe and based on the New York Times bestselling video game series!

One hundred thousand years ago, the galaxy was populated by a great variety of beings.

But one species—eons beyond all others in both technology and knowledge—achieved dominance.

They ruled in peace, but met opposition with quick and brutal effectiveness.

They were the Forerunners—the keepers of the Mantle of Responsibility, the next stage of life in the Universe’s Living Time.

And then they vanished.

This is their story. Adventure Genre Fiction Military Movie, TV & Video Game Tie-Ins Science Fiction Düşündürücü

An amazing dive into the mysterious beings that are Forerunner, which have always been shrouded in mystery in my favourite games and sci-fi universe. Very well done and very respectful to what has been layed down before!

Great story overall, wasn’t the biggest fan of some of the voice characters but not the worst I’ve heard before. I really like the ending we’re Bear explains how he got with original creators of 343 to flesh out a good story, that goes a long way and something clearing lacking in all modern shows films and books

Writer who knows the lore

Very well written by Greg bear, the setup for the rest of the trilogy is great, he has a brilliant job of explaining the characters and giving them personalities and made following the extensive lore behind the forerunners far more understandable and enjoyable than I thought. Going to get in to the next instalment right away

I read a review of Halo: Glasslands a little while back that simply said “lore porn” and I agreed with that statement though a lot more could be said about that series of novels. But I would state that this trilogy (especially that of Cryptum) is also “lore porn”. If you’re a fan of the Halo series and you want to learn about the mysterious Forerunners then this trilogy is for you. But it’s also a fantastic listen for anyone from outside of the Halo fandom. It’s definitely worth your time if you like exciting and bizarre science fiction.
