Özet

The hunter becomes the hunted in Gridlinked, the first sci-fi thriller in Neal Asher's compelling Agent Cormac series.

When a portal to other planets explodes on Samarkand, thousands are killed and a terraforming project is obliterated. Earth Central Security suspects sabotage – and assigns a legendary investigator. But Agent Ian Cormac has his own problems. Years spent mentally linked to the Polity’s AI network have eroded his humanity, and this gridlink has to be severed or he’ll die. Without it, he has only his wits (and Shuriken, a throwing star with a mind of its own) to rely on.

Cormac’s disastrous last mission also haunts him – as a psychopath and a murderous android track him across the galaxy, seeking revenge. Meanwhile, the ice-bound planet of Samarkand hides deadly secrets beneath its surface . . . secrets Cormac is about to disturb.

Gridlinked is followed by The Line of Polity, the second title in the Agent Cormac series.

Read well, with a great story with a huge backstory. Well worth paying for. Thoroughly recommended to hard sci-fi fans.

The book made me a huge Asher fan

Although Ric Jerrom did an excellent job of narrating this book it was very badly edited,so much so that i had to keep going back to see if a new chapter had started as they all seem to run into each other. As there are quite a lot of characters in the plot it made it hard to follow. I did wonder if i had jumped in to the middle of a series, but no, this was Niel Asher's first full length novel. It is high action but rather muddled, I think his later stuff is much better

Interesting concepts, disapointing ending.

Lover's of space opera will love this book. I can't recommend it highly enough. Great read.

Great book, great author, great universe

Could there be any lengthier pauses, ridiculous nuances and totally unneeded tonal changes in this narration??
I am so deeply disappointed because I had just listened to the Spatterjay trilogy narrated by the fantastic William Gaminara and I wanted more Polity universe.....so excited that I didn't notice the narrator was different.
I literally couldn't listen. It drove me crazy. I held out for two hours but it.....Never.......Flippin.....Changed. So that is now a whole raft of Neal Asher books I will never know. Feel very sad about that. I am sure the story is great, but.

Awful narration

So I have to listen to the next one now. This book is around 20 years old now so I must be entering the realms of classic science fiction.

Ends with a mystery
