It has been ten years since Boston attorney David Cavanaugh has spoken to his ex-wife Karin, and twelve years since she left him for another man, a man of power and influence. Now, she has called to ask the impossible. She wants him to represent her husband in the case of the century; the charge - murder, the victim - the Vice President of the United States. Now Cavanaugh faces the toughest decision of his career, a decision he knows will ultimately see him face-off with his past and carve out his future. What he does not realise is that Tom Bradshaw's death is not what it seems. Three more are dead and his enemies will stop at nothing to protect their secret and consolidate their power...©2007 Sydney Bauer. Eleştirmen yorumları

"A rattling good legal thriller." (The Australian Women's Weekly)
"Bauer hurtles readers into a world of intrigue and terror – it stays with you long after you turn the final page." (David Baldacci, #1 New York Times bestselling author)
"A slick, American legal thriller." (The Sydney Morning Herald)
"Sydney Bauer proves she is no one-hit wonder with the buzz around her second novel...a definite must read." (The Sydney Sun Herald)
"Top-notch Boston Defense Attorney Tom Cavanaugh finds himself with the opportunity of a lifetime – to defend a seemingly innocent man who is accused of killing a presidential hopeful. The catch? The defendant is married to his ex-wife, from whom he is estranged for over a decade. Naturally, there’s more to the case than meets the eye in a story reminiscent of Grisham's best. Narrator Bill Ten Eyck delivers a powerhouse performance, deepening his tone to capture the heightening tension that surrounds Cavanaugh at every turn. Ten Eyck's voice is capable of many emotions, but it's his gravitas that raises the stakes for listeners as the novel provides a more-than-satisfying payoff." (AudioFile Magazine)

I've just finished this book - I usually listen to anything by James Patterson or Michael Connolly - awful, just awful, so slow, conceited and tedious, the only reason I finished it, is because I listen to Audio books while I work. The plot of this story is obvious and dull from start to finish, with no real shocks or twists through it. As a 'Legal-thriller' it barely qualifies! Bad characters, who are genuinely one dimensional. Awful passages that grate and embarrass me as a listener. This book could have been abridged to a 45 minute TV show of the quality of Murder She Wrote!

Tedious, obvious, boring ..
