New York Times bestselling authors Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child pair up to present the unforgettable character Gideon Crew: trickster, prodigy, master and thief.

At twelve, Gideon Crew witnessed his father, a world-class mathematician, accused of treason and gunned down.

At twenty-four, summoned to his dying mother's bedside, Gideon learned the truth: His father was framed and deliberately slaughtered. With her last breath, she begged her son to avenge him.

Now, with a new purpose in his life, Gideon crafts a one-time mission of vengeance, aimed at the perpetrator of his father's destruction. His plan is meticulous, spectacular, and successful.

But from the shadows, someone is watching. A very powerful someone, who is impressed by Gideon's special skills. Someone who has need of just such a renegade.

I've read or listened to just about all of the Preston & Child books and I love them, this one does not disappoint. A great adventure and awesome twists. Well narrated, get it!

Awesome as always!

I'm a big fan of the other Preston/Child hero - and so was excited to give this series a go. While the writing style and sense of adventure (and even some characters) are familiar - the hero didn't quite inspire me as much as I would have hoped. Having said that - there is good potential so I'll definitely be giving other Gideon titles a go. The audiobook edition was excellent so all in all good value.

Enjoyable but not Pendergast

Another good story by these two collaborators. An unusual start that took a few pages to understand what was happening. Started on the flight to Greece and finished on the beach.
It took me two days to hear it all and it was a really good listen. Well orated.

The start of a series?

A disapointing novel. The characters a shallow and poorly formed. The plot is completely linear. I did listen to the end, but will not be getting any more from these authors in the future.

very little good
