I listened to this as an audio book. It took quite a while to get into and I nearly stopped, but it hung around in my mind until I picked it back up again.
It was quite a different set up from what I'm used to and a little confusing to begin with but I'm very glad that I did go back to it as I enjoyed the story.

I didn't hate it but I just didn't like it all that much. The story itself was slow & quaint in a rambling pleasant way but very predictable. Given the content I was surprised at how surface level everyone's feelings felt to me, like there was no real depth there but maybe I just didn't gel with the characters. I was very surprised to find that this was written as recently as 2021 as it seemed very old fashioned. The repeated use of the phrase "hi-fi" bugged for me instance. Didn't really like the narrators either and found some of their choice of pronunciations odd. Sorry!

Loved the story despite being completely predictable. Was nice easy listening at bed time. Only problems I faced was with the narration; which due to switching between characters during dialogue seemed a bit disjointed. Also the authors constant use of "he said" "she said" when listening to the audio version becomes rather irritating.

Really enjoyed this story! Each of the characters and their flaws made them realistically human and it was easy to find a way to relate to each of them (well, except maybe Ant. He really was a bit of a twit to be fair 😅)
