The first interstellar war, a generation ago, left humanity enslaved. Now humans fight in the armies of their masters to save themselves from annihilation. At least, that's what the propaganda insists is true.

What the layers of lies keep hidden is how badly the new war is going for the people of earth. Now it's Dylan Kane's turn to blast into the heavens and join the battle, but what his masters don't know is that by putting a weapon in his hands, they're giving him the key to unlocking his hopes of freedom.

When the railgun slugs are tearing through his ship, and the vacuum is sucking the life out of his wounded friends, will Dylan's years of repressed rage turn into enough bravery to make his dream come true?

Good story arc, and really well performed. There are some quite dark aspects to the story as it unfolds. (perhaps not for younger listeners).
Am up to book 5 of the six and have found it has gripped throughout so far.

Good story, gripping and at times quite dark.

OK 8mins is not a long time so I persevered and by 45mins I was hooked.

Some good ideas and waiting to see if it works out for the rebels.

8mins in and reaching for my cyanide tablets.

Fantastic series, good plot, loved narrator. There are still plenty of notions that haven't been fully explored, but it doesn't take away from the story. I am reviewing after listening to all of the books in the series and it's well worth the listen.

Absolutely loved it

A good read to listen to. The reading is well done, the story starts off a bit slow however hang in there as it does pick up and become an action packed novel. It may not be an amazing book but it's definitely good and worth the 8 hours.

Get through the slow start, it's a decent novel

An interesting take on trying to end life in servitude to alien masters, but the antagonists as well as the support cast are very one dimensional in the first entry of this series.

Not bad, not great
