Fortuna Sworn is the last of her kind.

Her brother disappeared two years ago, leaving her with no family or species to speak of. She hides among humans, spending her days working at a bar and her nights searching for him. The bleak pattern goes on and on...until she catches the eye of a powerful faerie.

The start was amazing... then it dipped a little bit that was just the character building and the world building. This ended on a cliffhanger, so naturally I can’t wait to listen to the next book. There’s so many directions this story could go in and there’s so many unanswered questions I am eager to find out.

The narrator doesn't grasp Fortunas emotions very well. She's always being portrayed as very sarcastic and sassy, even in moments of pain or vulnerability. It brings down the story for me a great deal.

Enchanting

I disliked the main character so much that I enjoyed all the antagonist in the story, for the mere fact it would cause Fortuna trouble.

I don’t understand how she can be so self-righteous.

Maybe it’s merely early days and she will redeem herself in the following books. She definitely needs to mature and stop being so selfish.

Maybe my feelings towards the book are prejudice because of the likeness to ACOTAR.
