Some say that in the city of Orlyn, godhood is on sale to the highest bidder. Thousands flock to the city each year, hoping for a chance at immortality.

Lydia Hastings is a knowledge sorcerer, capable of extracting information from anything she touches. When she travels to Orlyn to validate the claims of the local faith, she discovers a conspiracy that could lead to a war between the world's three greatest powers. At the focal point is a prisoner who bears a striking resemblance to the long-missing leader of the pantheon she worships.

Rescuing the prisoner would require risking her carefully cultivated cover - but his execution could mean the end of everything Lydia holds dear.

I personally prefer his AA series but still an engaging story. Took a little while for me to really get into it but definitely enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing where the story goes. Big fan of Nick Podehl as usual.

Good listen if you give it time to get you hooked

A really enjoyable adventure story with likeable characters and lots of satisfying drama. Having listened to some of the author’s later books already I’m happy to say that he did learn proper use of the word ‘considered’, so it’s worth sticking with the series even if, like me, you have strong feelings about such things.

Lots of fun, technically patchy

A good intro to an interesting story idea, suffers from the same inability to seem personal and the relationships seem false too much surface chatter and they are always on the job, great for action but lacking in authenticity, I look forward to some character growth these litrpgs focus too much on the game aspect and levelling which is good in one aspect but lacks a personal touch too many characters thrown into impossible and ridiculous circumstances and they live every time it's to a point where it's no longer impressive. Might be thaf as I'm upto over 200 titles on here I'm noticing where the authors both purposely and by accident copy each others ideas and writing styles.

A good start a bit vague on certain things

All of Rowe and Podehl's good points are still here but a lot of the magic just feels a little less complete. The interpersonal relationships are still fun.

Very good, but not as good as Arcane Ascension

the book was just as amazing as the author's other series. However i enjoyed the other series's storyline a bit more.
