Ellen Walsh has done something very, very bad. If only she knew what it was . . .

Teacher, mother, wife, and all-around good citizen Ellen is juggling non-stop commitments, from raising a teen and two toddlers to job-hunting, and renovating her dream home.

Amidst the chaos, a note arrives in the mail declaring:

Sooner or later everyone sits down to a banquet of consequences.

Ellen has no idea why someone would send this to her. She tells the occasional white lie, has a sharp tongue now and again, but she’s done nothing to incur the wrath of an anonymous enemy.

As she races to discover who’s set on destroying her life, Ellen receives more threatening messages, each one hitting closer to home and everything that she cherishes.

Could the five bad deeds that come back to haunt her explain why things have taken such a deadly turn?

A brilliantly observed cast of characters where flaws came to light in very clever ways. Kept me guessing about who what where and why!

Exceptionally enjoyable

Was expecting more from this novel, after enjoying all of Caz Freers previous work. It was awfully drawn out and seemed to take forever to get anywhere, and it seemed very contrived, trying to make us think in one direction when it when it was, in fact, actually the complete opposite. A little dishonest I felt. I was hoping for the end to reveal a big twist that would save the book, but sadly it never came. A bit of a damp squib, disappointingly.

Average at best

It was slow to get my attention while it built a picture (I realised afterwards)
Once it had my attention it kept me gripped. I wasn't sure who was the person trying to destroy Ellie... It was very clever and the filling out of background wasn't boring or just a way to end a book... It was very good and I'd say, give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

My mind changed

I loved the story and the build up, it felt a good pace and I liked the shorter chapters to be able to dip in and out. when it gets towards the end, I just wanted a bit more depth and detail, felt like an ending that happened too quickly, I felt there was a lot more exploration of the characters to be done. would definitely recommend though

a good listen, ended too fast
