"HIS NAME WAS RAMBO AND HE WAS JUST SOME NOTHING KID FOR ALL ANYBODY KNEW."

The award-winning novel that inspired the legendary film series starring Sylvester Stallone.

First came the man: a young wanderer in a fatigue coat and long hair. Then came the legend, as John Rambo sprang from the pages of FIRST BLOOD to take his place in the American cultural landscape. This remarkable novel pits a young Vietnam veteran against a small-town cop who doesn't know whom he's dealing with -- or how far Rambo will take him into a life-and-death struggle through the woods, hills, and caves of rural Kentucky.

Millions have seen the Rambo movies, but those who haven't read the book are in for a surprise -- a critically acclaimed story of character, action, and compassion.

I was expecting just an all out, action story Rambo feels so synonymous with the mindless action of the films. It’s difficult to remember sometimes that this story is more about the struggles of PTSD and the treatment of veterans who come home from the war. I really liked the film, but the fourth is phenomenal.

Not what I was expecting

Let’s hope Tarantino or someone does film the novel - a decent parable on war and it’s effects on those near it.

Excellent

Despite spawning a whole generation of macho films and books the original is still worthy

Driving from work to home I was hoping for slower driving pace simply to listen to 2-3 mins more!

Purchased this book by mistake as I actually wanted another Morrell book. Thought I’d just have a listen to see. The message from the author was very interesting and so I carried on to the story. Nothing to loose. Wow. I was hooked from the start. It was a fascinating listen and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Gripping story!
