The complete series 1-5 of the thrilling mystery series. On sabbatical from the Franciscan order, Father Paolo Baldi is working as a philosophy lecturer in Dublin when his life takes an unexpected turn and he finds himself helping the police to solve crimes.

Along with Tina, Paolo uncovers the truth behind the killings of several rockabilly band members, a high-profile case of a police officer’s murder, as well as delving into the highly competitive world of celebrity chefs. He also exposes a rift in a community of environmental activists, enters the world of romantic poetry to solve a suspected suicide, investigates the killing of a politically-incorrect figurehead, and finds that the death of a homeless man is not as simple as it appears.

Follow the priest-cum-sleuth’s thrilling adventures as he solves mysteries throughout Ireland.

David Threlfall, Tina Kellegher and T.P. McKenna star in this exciting series written by Simon Brett, Bill Murphy, Andrew Martin, Martin Meenan, John Murphy and Francis Turnly in the series created by Barry Devlin.

I first heard these on BBC Rdio 4 many years ago, and enjoyed them. I was therefore delighted to see the whole "box set", and thoroughly enjoyed reacquainting myself with Father Paulo Baldi and his side-kick. Absolutely brilliant.

GREAT TO LISTEN TO THE WHOLE SERIES AGAIN

Classy, intelligent, intriguing and gentle (despite the murders!). My only criticisms would be that, as mentioned by another contributor, the sound levels vary so that it can be difficult to hear some of the quieter conversations, whilst at other times the sound is perfectly audible. Also, I enjoy listening to the cast list after the story finishes and for some of them there is a really miserable, slow, disinterested voice that only covers the 3 main characters - could that be rectified?
Having said all that, I really enjoyed the world of Paolo Baldi and his tussle between the intellectual and the holy life. His on -going relationship with Tina (who I think is wonderful!) is intriguing and gives the story telling another level.
The cast gave great performances and I could easily listen to another 20 hours........

Brilliant!

A bit of an abrupt ending but I enjoyed the gentle humour and the murder plots.

Nicely done.

A very enjoyable BBC drama series. David Threlfall is fabulous as the reluctant priest turned academic turned detective. His gentle delivery makes the main character thoroughly loveable. The supporting cast are all great fun. I was sad to get to the final one.

Really enjoyable series
