The end of the world has been avoided - for now. With Miri and her team of extracted heroes still on the run, Mother, the disgraced former head of the British Secret Service, has other ideas....

While Mother retreats to her bunker to plot her next move, Miri, Ben, Safa and Harry travel far into the future to ensure that they have prevented the apocalypse. But what they find just doesn't make sense.

London in 2111 is on the brink of annihilation. What's more, the timelines have been twisted. Folded in on each other. It's hard to keep track of who is where. Or, more accurately, who is when.

The clock is ticking for them all. With nothing left to lose but life itself, our heroes must stop Mother - or die trying.

Will not go into details but I am least thrilled about this one.
Things start to go in some strange directions and while still very interesting and captivating for the most part the ending left me disappointed.
It is at once rushed and somewhat open-ended.
I think the author got confused at the end, wanting to make this a trilogy but seeing that readers liked it and thinking about making one more.
This was published in 2018 and I did not find any info about another book being in the workings.
In the last hour or so too much happened that is not really grounded. A side-lined character gets put in the spotlight for a short time, 2 new very interesting characters are added and they save the entire main team. After that they disappear and the last 20 minutes just get very confusing.
Still a good book/series but it gets messy at the end. Clearly left room for another one but maybe the author wrote himself in a corner.

Still one book missing.

Carl Prekop had his work cut out in this third book. There were more characters to voice and keep track of. Extinct pits Harry and the gang against Mother and her crew of professional assassins. We get a better feel for Alpha and the best secret agents in the world. Loyalties are tested and motivations exposed.

Heywood has maintained the gang's banter and humour whilst painting the dreadful hell brought on the civilians in Berlin during the Allied bombing raids of WW2.

The story is tight and well paced. I still maintain that it is much better as an audio book than text. Probably due to the reader and the dialogue.

Well performed tightly written

without doubt this is the best series of books I have listened to on audible. It is exquisitely observed, subtly delivered and the characterisations are so precise. great humour and a pacy story line as well. can't fault the author or the performer.

this is the best series I have listened to

There’s no other word for it apart from brilliant. I’ve just finished my second lesson of this incredible trilogy that I first listened to about four years ago and it still holds up as my favourite time travel story and probably one of my favourite trilogies ever. I have really mixed feelings about it ending, I want more books because I love the characters so much I also really like the way this final book finished. Some stories are wrapped up but there’s still some open. Don’t think about it just listen to it
