I loved the northern references and felt like Sophie could well have been a friend from the past. Listened to this in one sitting and my only regret is that now I have to find something else to listen to.

Northern Charm

I like the intonation and the story, but a Lancastrian native might have worked better, particularly as the Northern accent was more Jodie Whittaker than Jodie Prenger (aka wrong side o' Pennines). A minor niggle, but an accent says so much about a character.

Why is a Northern accent so generic!

Nice, although predictable. Easy, romantic reading. Perfect for a quick summer read or listen through audiobooks.

Great story as usual from Portia, great characters; twists and turns as usual. Lots of giggles too.

Male narrator was excellent but the female one was shockingly bad. Poor accents Supposed to be Blackpool but sounded like a mixture between Barnsley and Leeds) such a silly whining voice, but worst of all she was fading in and out throughout the book. At times it was like she turned her back on the mic at the start of the sentence, then whipped around shouting at full volume ! Please don’t put us through that again!

I thought the characters were good and the narration really added to them. Some of it predictable, but with some good twists. Kept me enjoying it to the very end and would love to hear the next step in the tale.

Lovely story with a few twists and delightfully narrated.
