Nothing is quite as it seems.

Expect the unexpected in this veritable treasure trove of enthralling, witty, dark tales that could only come from the imagination of the greatest storyteller of our time.

In this eerie, enchanting compilation, Stephen King takes readers down a road less travelled (for good reason) in the blockbuster e-book 'Riding the Bullet'. Terror becomes deja vu all over again when you get 'That Feeling, You Can Only Say What It Is in French'. 'LT's Theory of Pets' will make you stop and think before giving a dog to a loved one. And there are eleven more stories that will keep you awake until dawn.

Narrated by Becky Ann Baker, John Cullum, Boyd Gaines, Peter Gerety, Josh Hamilton, Arliss Howard, Judith Ivey, Stephen King, Justin Long, Oliver Platt, and Jay O. Sanders.

I’d read the book previously but it has been a while. I bought it as I had just listened to The Dark Tower series, including The Wind through the Keyhole and wanted more time with Roland on his journey to the Tower. I bought it for that story alone but the additional stories offer a good mix. The Road Virus Heads North was particularly chilling. I found myself having to put the light on while listening as it got to me in ways the others didn’t. Overall it’s what you would expect from King, and contrary to what others have said, I like hearing him narrate his stories.

Good variety

A selection of short stories, mostly horror, some involving the Dark Tower series that I absolutely love, others involving paintings that change as a murderer gets closer.

All in all, great tales, and all read by the author himself. Fantastic audiobook for Bath listening

Great reading, great book

There are some great stories in here, but there are also some that i found a bit of a slog, even if they were short. The best ones are Autopsy in Room 4, The Road Virus Heads North and Riding The Bullet. More good than bad so overall I'm glad I gave this a listen.

Some stories better than others

I enjoyed most of the stories but not all. That's not to say they were bad, just not my sort of story.
The biggest criticism would be the musical intro/endings which would be so distracting you miss some of what the narrator is saying. why have them play over the reading?

Enjoyable

loved every story which is not a usual thing. Mr King's narrating more often made this collection really special

Memorable anthology
