It was indisputably love at first sight. But Victoria Lyndon was merely the teenaged daughter of a vicar. . .while Robert Kemble was the dashing young earl of Macclesfield. Surely what their meddlesome fathers insisted must have been true-that he was a reckless seducer determined to destroy her innocence. . . and she was a shameless fortune hunter. So it most certainly was for the best when their plans to elope went hopelessly awry.

Even after a seven-year separation, Victoria-now a governess-still leaves Robert breathless. But how could he ever again trust the raven-haired deceiver who had shattered his soul? And Victoria could never give her heart a second time to the cad who so callously trampled on it the first. But a passion fated will not be denied, and vows of love yearn to be kept. . . even when one promises the moon.©1997 Julie Cotler Pottinger (P)2024 W.F.Howes Ltd Historical Historical Fiction Romantic Comedy Victorian Samimi

A great example that weird voices aren’t necessarily to distinguish between male and female voices

Excellent naration

Not the best of JQ’s books, as the second part was a bit samey waiting for the obvious to happen. But still good and well written like all her books. Ideal for romantics of historical dramas

Another historical drama

This was a lovely story with a lot of passionate moments, however I do feel the heroine protested a little too much for the age they were living in. I did enjoy how most of the story was conversation between them so you weren’t left waiting for them to meet again. Overall a very enjoyable listen and I will listen to the next one in the series.

A nice story although went on a little longer than needed

Story didn't deliver any real intrigue or substance. Characters not developed as well as other stories by the same author. Read The Rokesby books instead.

No real plot

I liked the way the story flowed, characters were loveable and good level of humour throughout along with romance and erotic content

Very enjoyable
