Jockey Kelly Hughes and trainer Dexter Cranfield had been barred from racing – a devastating event for them both. The charge at the secret enquiry? Throwing a race for personal profit.

It was a vicious frame-up and, worse, they had nowhere to turn to clear their names. Still Hughes refused to take the phony verdict lying down – even though his quest to clear his name might have him lying down permanently.

You know what you are getting with these books - but they are still page-turners. Well narrated too.

I haven't been disappointed by a Dick Francis book yet. They always have good plots, characters and a good human interest. The narration was first class.

The Dick Francis books narrated by Tony Britton are classic thrillers set in the world of horse racing. Set in the pre-digital time without mobile po and fast computers, Francis's heroes tackle crime with ingenuity and foot slogging. The voice of Tony Britton is excellent bringing the characters to life - male and female - in such a believable way. An enjoyable listen.
