On steamy Pryan, never-ending sunlight and plentiful rain have created a jungle so vast that humans and elves dwell high in the trees and only dwarves live anywhere near the ground. From the treetops the aristocratic elves sell weapons to the other races, whose incessant warfare sends a steady steam of profits and essential resources skyward. Now, generations of dissent and race hatred will not heal -- not even under the threat of annihilation at the hands of legendary Titans. Armed with little more than their wits and prophecy, an elf, a human, and a dwarf must unite to try to save the world from destruction.

A weaker book with a weaker reading. The mispronunciation of Titans is jarring every time you hear it. Added to that, this book focuses too much on a group of elves, humans and dwarves who are less interesting and less sympathetic. It is a slog to listen to compared to the other excellent books.

The weakest of the Death Gate Cycle books

Got to love Dragonlance. Sure, one word was pronounced differently. Who cares. On to book 3 😁

Fizban!

Good book and well read with just one exception.
One of the main creatures are the titans. The narrator can’t say titans. He says Tea-ah-toms. It’s hard to write how badly he mangles the word but it gets frustrating as it’s used so much and doesn’t even sound remotely right.
I do feel this should have been picked up before release. Surly audible checks before release ?

Audible Quality should have picked this up

The only book not required in an amazing series. I would only read for completeness.

Completely missable

The unfortunate pronunciation of Titan is a bit jarring considering how often it's used in the storyline. However, don't let this put you off. Elven Star is where we begin to understand more of where the Sartan went wrong and the beginning of their downfall. It also delves into Haplo's time in the Labyrinth. Definitely worth a listen.
Side note: Audible really should have human editors/listener's to check the pronunciation before a book is released.

Still a good listen
