The first battle was a victory. But the war is just beginning . . .
Earth is a radioactive ruin. But the initial campaign of the Butlerian Jihad has given new hope to mankind. Serena Butler, whose murdered child has become a symbol for oppressed humanity, inspires a war against the thinking computers led by Xavier Harkonnen and Vorian Atreides. But four of the Titans – murderous machines with human brains and human cunning – still remain. And the universal computer mind, Omnius, still wields most of its power.

A much improved performance from Scott Brick. It's perhaps not surprising as it's a much better story than it's prequel, the Butlerian Jihad, which was a rather bland tale altogether and didn't seem to inspire him.

This one is less Warhammer and more Dune. I liked it and, whilst political maneuvering and basic plot intrigue are still somewhat overshadowed by warfare and graphic descriptions of mutilation, you do have to remember that's what this trilogy is all about, viz. the war against the Machines!

In summary, still not up to "Prelude Trilogy" standards but good entertainment and well worth the money, especially for Dune fans.

Another masterpiece for the extended Dune universe. Scott Brick is incredible as always and still remains my all time favourite narrator. I’m straight on to the third book in this trilogy and can’t wait. Enjoy!
