Together they will combat a local legend the natives call “the Dragon,” before Bond alone must face the most punishing test of all: an obstacle course—designed by the sadistic Dr. No himself—that measures the limits of the human body’s capacity for agony.

The whole performance oozes bond. Loved every second. Coming from casino royale this one is way more far fetched but still really good fun!

Narrator voices are excellent

Great description. Of its time. A classic. A must listen. Very far from today and that’s OK.

Original Bond

Brilliant writing. Clear and full of great description. Worlds apart from the film adaptions. Bond’s character is more complex, less masculine and more sensitive and insightful in this novel. Many of Flemings Bond books are run of the mill. For the best pick I would listen or read : casino royale, from Russia with love, thunderball, and goldfinger. Not so impressed by the others. All in all very enjoyable reads.

Jon culshaw’s fantastic reading and accents

First time listening to a Fleming novel and this didn't disappoint. Brilliant and evocative narration by Jon Culshaw with a very recognisable Bond. I hope he continues the series!

Great narration of a classic

I'm enjoying listening to these 'updated' Bond novels and this is one of my favourites (even though the bird poop storyline and the gauntlet scene gets a bit too much), along with From Russia with Love read by Mark Gatiss. Jon Culshaw's narration is excellent here, giving Bond a very Connery-sounding voice. The narration makes a huge difference in the way its performed, giving different characters distinctive voices, especially these Bond novels. Now even though I usually like female readers, what I have heard for the most part with these Bond novels is not that great, as a number of them are narrated by women, even though most of the characters are men (as it is Bond written in the 1950's), and IMO it just doesn't seem to work too well. Sorry to say but I just don't think they are as good with these stories as the male readers who do the voices much better. Although Eleanor Matsuura does a good job in You Only Live Twice. I haven't listened to The Spy who Loved Me yet, which is written from a woman's perspective...so that might work much better.
