Özet
'A great book, an important book that will start a discussion that needs to be had…my heart was in my mouth' Marian Keyes

'Exhilarating, viscerally thrilling and SO timely - an ambitious dark comedy that really delivers. Hugely smart, with so much emotional depth and resonance' Daisy Buchanan

'Sharp, dark and outrageously funny,' Marianne Levy

'This is an honest, funny, devastating and timely book' Jenny Colgan

Don’t Make Me Laugh balances anger and humour with the deftest of touches. It is a story about power and control and manipulation, about gendered roles in both the workplace and our personal lives, and about how women are set up in competition with each other. And ultimately – satisfyingly – it’s a story about fighting back.©2025 Julia Raeside (P)2025 Bedford Square Publishers & W. F. Howes Ltd Genre Fiction Literature & Fiction Urban Women's Fiction

Bought this book after listening to an interview with Julia on Richard Herring’s podcast.

It’s a lovely ‘read’ and better than I thought it could be. Characters are beautifully brought to life. And it’s an important story to tell. Smashing ending too.

Delightful - Well worth a listen

I won't touch on the plot at all as I wouldn't want to spoil it. This is a story full of realistic characters acting in realistic ways propelled through a plot that seems simplistic on its face but is wonderfully human in the way it twists and turns. The narration is also excellent, nailing the tone of voice of all of the various characters and helping you feel sympathy and empathy while also recognising the cringe worthy nature of certain bad choices.

A brilliantly observed tale set in the comedy industry
